Real Life phpWebSites
Submission by Rene C. Kiesler
So you've stumbled across them. Open Source CMS systems. And are puzzled. What exactly can they do, how can they help me? Why shouldn't I simply go to a consultant, pay a bit of money and let him/her decide, what to use?
Well, you could of course do that. Or you could inform yourself prior to buying service or doing a site by yourself. I'd like to help you here by providing a collection of some of my favourite phpWebSite installations. You can see there, how they are used, how they look like, how they work.

I've been asked to review a book. It's called Typo3 Enterprise Content Management, it's about Typo3 and it contains a lot of information.
In this article, I'm trying to find out the focus of the book, the target audience and try to write a bit about its content, too.

English Language TYPO3 Book Announced
Submission by Damian Carvill
Packt Publishing is pleased to announce the first English language book on TYPO3, the popular and open source content management system. TYPO3 is a feature-rich free content management system with the flexibility and scalability to more than match commercial systems. Written and endorsed by the TYPO3 project team, TYPO3: Enterprise Content Management is the guide for all users of this powerful application.
Because of its complex system and numerous extensions, TYPO3 can be daunting on first approach and the initial learning curve can be steep. However the nature of its advanced features will reward an extra investment in learning. With guidance from TYPO3 experts and core developers your journey into learning and mastering TYPO3 will be a smooth one.
While comprehensive and detailed, this book is an easy-to-use and understand introduction to TYPO3. Whether an editor interested in creating and managing content, an administrator who needs to maintain TYPO3 enterprise intranets and extranets, or a developer who needs to extend TYPO3 and integrate it with other systems, this book is all you will need.

Packaged Version
We have packaged up our version of typo3.7rc2 (http://dev.ruv.net/typo3/)
database and templates into a handy file to use when installing your
copy of typo3.7. This will provide you a functional site structure to use
as the basis for building typo3 sites in version 3.7.
The package can be downloaded at:
www.ruv.net/ruvsite/ruvsite_install.tgz
Untar the file and take the ruvsite_7rc2.sql and place it in the typo3conf folder
install this file rather then the database.sql file and you will get a preconfigured template structure using both the templavoila and autoparser methods
then copy the html, images and css files into your fileadmin folder
Make sure you have the autoparser, css styled content and templavoila extensions installed or the default template will not work
everything should just work now
